Russia’s Gazprom Neft may drill 1st well at Halabja’s block 2016
MOSCOW, Dec 25 (PRIME) -- Russian oil major Gazprom Neft plans to drill the first exploration well at the Halabja block in Iraqi Kurdistan in 2016, Gazprom Neft Middle East CEO Mikhail Kholodov said in an interview to the Gazprom corporate newspaper on Friday.
Gazprom Neft also produces oil at the Garmian and Shakal blocks in Iraq.
“Seismic exploration has been done at all the three blocks, exploration drilling – at Garmian and Shakal. The first prospecting well at the Halabja block will be drilled in 2016,” it said.
“In February, production at the Garmian block started – at present over one billion barrels have been produced there. We plan to drill a new one exploration well there next year.”
Gazprom Neft will start oil production at the Shakal and Halabja blocks in 2018–2019.
